What Support do you need?
Day Time Hours
A postpartum doula can help you feel more in control of day-to-day life, letting you focus on rest and your baby.
Sample Postpartum 4-hour Day Shift:
Arrive and connect. How are you doing? What is your biggest need?
Talk through some concerns you have about feeding and develop a plan.
You take a nap. I place your baby on me in a wrap and get to work!
Tidy the main areas and put things away.
Wipe down surfaces in the kitchen, bathrooms and living space.
Wash any pump and bottle parts.
Throw in a new load of laundry and fold what’s in the dryer.
Prep some overnight oats for the week, a freezer meal for a different day, and have a soup on the stove for lunch.
All while supporting your baby with any diapers or feeds.
Overnight Hours
Postpartum doula support overnight is especially helpful to catch up on sleep after a rough stretch. Sleep is critical to your mental health, and an overnight postpartum doula is one tool in the toolbox.
Sample 8-hour Overnight Postpartum Doula Shift:
Arrive and connect. Any concerns that may make falling asleep difficult for you? What are a few items I can help with early in the night?
Get you and baby tucked into your respective beds.
Reset the kitchen for the next day.
Tidy living spaces.
Fold any available laundry
Settle in to sleep in baby’s room, while you sleep soundly elsewhere.
Wake with baby and take care of needs: diapering, feeding etc.
Overnight feeding can by done by bottle with expressed milk or formula. I can also bring your baby to your for feeds, then return them back to their room to settle them to sleep.
